1st Half Awards  - Pro-Life

 

Division 2:

 

1. 13812 - Pope John Paul II Council, Durham, GK David Lucas Wendell -  The council worked in conjunction with the Pregnancy Support Services in Durham during their annual baby-bottle campaign.  The council announced the project in the bulletin, put the bottles out after Mass and then collected the bottles throughout the campaign. Their small parish donated over $1800 to the Pregnancy Support Service.

 

Division 3:

 

1. 9039 – Our Lady of the Rosary Council, Shallotte, GK Norman Melanson – The council supports a Room at the Inn by raising their annual donation from $400 per year to a $1,000 per year and they are participating in the $20 per member for 5 year campaign to help raise additional money for the project.

 

2. 11265 – St. Ann’s Council , Smithfield, GK Wayne Hammerberg – The council continues to support In His Hands pregnancy center by doing ground work, repairs and donating $250. Additionally, once a month the knights lead a rosary before Mass in conjunction with their Respect Life committee in the parish.

 

Division 4:

 

1. 10852 – St Matthews Council, Charlotte, GK Robert Desch – After much debate within the council, the GK and DGK collaborated to fully explain the program of a Room at the Inn, obtained buy-in from the council and the council has now pledged over $41,000 to the project.

 

2. 12832 – St. Luke Council, Mint Hill, GK Philip Angelo - The council created an action committee to promote pro-life. Through their efforts, the council participates in pro-life chains, marches and hands out pamphlets at festivals.

 

3. 9499 – Bishop Greco Council, Clemmons GK Robert Duckworth, The council participated in the Silver Rose program which included 3 aspiring Deacons, 150 people and a reception where knights served refreshments after the service.
