Worthy Sir Knights & Brothers All,

Thank you all for your participation and support for the many pro-life events the past 2 months in NC as well as in Washington, DC. For those SK’s also wearing their Regalia for these events and the 6 Brother SK’s wearing Regalia for the Mass in DC, thank you.

Thank you and congratulations for a job well done as the NC District for the 4th Degree had a 100% reporting of the Form 1728, Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity Report.

The Next 4th Degree Exemplification:

  • March 25th
  • Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kernersville
  • Pope John Paul II No. 3017
  • Official Page

There will be a Fourth Degree Exemplification on Sat. March 25, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kernersville. Pope John Paul II No. 3017 is the Host Assembly assisted by Assemblies 782 and 2282. The Exemplification Information Sheet and Dress Code Form in the 4th Degree section of the website using the link above.

The day will start with Mass at 9:00 AM, Faithful Friar Fr. William Lesak the celebrant with the Exemplification starting promptly at 11:30 AM. Lunch will be served at 2:00 PM following the Exemplification. There is also a ladies program, a mini retreat TO BE HELD on the Holy Cross Campus as well as information on local shopping malls. Please pay attention to the due dates as it most important when planning for supplies and the luncheon numbers.

We are still working on locations to hold future 4th Degree Exemplifications. We are planning one for the Western part of the State in late Summer, the location to be determined very soon. We are also working on a location for one in the East to be held in the late Fall and then one for the Middle of the State sometime in the early Spring 2018. As soon as we confirm these locations, they will be publicized.

Military Chaplain’s Fund

A reminder the Military Chaplain’s Fund is still active until the end of this Fraternal Year. Please make all donations payable to Knights of Columbus and on the Memo Line indicate Military Chaplain’s Fund. All donations are to be sent to SK Gary McLain FVSM at 36 Currant Ave., Middleburg, Fla. 32068. Supreme is asking for a $25.00 donation per Knight and passing of the hat at meetings helps. The March issue of the “NC Catholic” has a great story relative to the Military and the need for Priests.

State Convention

The NC State Convention is scheduled for the weekend of May 5, 6 & 7, 2017 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham. There is a Memorial Mass scheduled for 5:00 PM on Saturday evening and we encourage all SK’s wishing to attend the Mass, please bring your Regalia and be a part of the Honor Guard. This Mass is where the Annual Necrology, listing of deceased Brother Knights, is read . Always a very moving tribute to our fallen Brothers Knights.

Cathedral Dedication

We have been getting a lot of inquiries about the scheduled dedication for the new Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral scheduled for July 26, 2017.  We have been meeting with Diocesan Committees to learn the extent of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd & 4th Degree participation. The Dedication Service will be by invitation only, a listing of KofC participants will be given to Security Personnel and some form of color coded ID to be issued. We have met with the Host Assembly 778 and Host Council 2546 to lay the groundwork  for manpower needs. As further meetings occur, information will be passed along. Suffice to say, if you have not received an invitation from the Diocese or not a part of the KofC Delegation assigned to various tasks, do not attempt to attend the Dedication as you will be turned away from the Church Campus by Security Personnel. We have been advised to the extent of Security and it will be very much enforced.

As I meet with Assemblies, the same phrase keeps resounding, “ we are not getting any younger and looking for new SK’s”. Brothers, please continue to ask our younger Knights to become a part of the Patriotic Arm of the Knights of Columbus.

Please remember our Veterans and all our Military Personnel, in your thoughts and prayers.  The VAVS is always looking for support, please help out whenever  and wherever you can.

REMEMBER: “Sir Knight” is an Honor – Not just a Title!

God Bless You, God Bless Our Church and God Bless America

Fraternally,

SK Jack Murray, IPSD
District Master

State Deputy Colin Jorsch and DD’s Tom Kotz and Tim Walsh at the Charlotte Right to Life March. The Knights of Columbus SO’s were on each corner near the rally gathering, with a SK in Regalia and additional Knights with signs also assisting at each corner etc. a great turnout of support.
