4th DEGREE EXEMPLIFICATION

District Master – November 2018

Worthy Sir Knights and Brothers,

Thank you for all your help and support as we all continue Programs in support of our Church, Community and Veterans across this great State. It is always very gratifying to hear of the great work of you, the Sir Knights! Again, thank you and please keep up the good work. Please send a picture of your events to me and we will place in the Golden Plume as well as display on the Fourth Degree Website.

We have been dealt a tremendous blow by Hurricane Florence, some a lot more than others. There is a lot of damage and as of this writing, still many facilities and homes uninhabitable. Our Churches have sustained damages and there will be a long recovery process. Please remember all our Brothers, families and our Churches in these affected areas in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to all those who have assisted those in need, especially the State Officers, driving trucks, loaded with supplies, gift cards etc., into needed areas.

As a result of the storm, the Fourth Degree Exemplification scheduled for Sat. Nov. 17, 2018 in Wilmington has been cancelled. St. Mary’s facilities have sustained damages and the time period for the repair process could not be estimated. I have promised the Faithful Navigator, we will work together to propose another date sometime next year for Wilmington.

The next scheduled Fourth Degree Exemplification will be hosted by Fr. Francis Connolly Assembly No. 3253 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Greensboro, NC on Saturday February 16, 2019. This is a centralized location in the State, with plenty of room to encompass a large class. Now is the time to start recruiting so we can make up for the loss of the Wilmington Exemplification. Click here for details about the February Exemplification.

Speaking of membership – our 2018-2019 goal is 7% increase in membership. Currently, there are just over 4,095 Sir Knights in the State, therefore our goal for the 2018-2019 Fraternal Year would be circa 287 new Brother Sir Knights. We attained 199 new Brother Sir Knights 2017-2018 Fraternal Year, so our goal is doable and reachable!

Our annual goal is also one (1) new Assembly per year.  We did not have a new Assembly last year, however we have done some research and plan to work in two (2) areas to produce at least one (1) new Assembly. If you wish to help, please advise your thoughts – we are open for any and all suggestions.

Coupons for Troops Program once again is placed on hold as we attempt to move it forward through our local Congressman. Please do not forward any coupons until we get a message to all that the coupons will be accepted. The facility at Ft. Bragg is inundated with coupons, from other organizations also, and with no movement, coupons end up shredded.

I have received an e-mail notice from the Supreme Master and his office personnel, regarding the Chain of Command that we must follow, similar to the Third Degree. Please do not e-mail or call the Supreme Master with questions that can be answered by any of the Assistant District Marshal’s, District Staff or me. You can call any one of us and if we do not know the answer, will get it for you. There is also information posted on the 4th Degree Website relative to Exemplifications, forms, etc.

Veterans Day November 11, 2018 will be the 100th Anniversary of the signing of the Peace Accord ending World War 1. Please remember all our Veterans as we all participate in the various Parades and Remembrance Events scheduled for the weekend. Please forward your pictures to be placed in the Golden Plume as well as on the 4th Degree website.

Veterans Day Additional: Let us all pause for just a minute to remember and say a prayer for all those Military Personnel, who gave their lives so we continue to know the freedoms that we Americans have come to know and take for granted!

Please take a moment to remember all our Brother Sir Knights and their families in need and keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

Jo and I wish for all of you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving.
